Activity
Neurotoxin
FUNCTION: Cationic peptide that possesses multiple functions. It acts as a cell-penetrating peptide (CPP), and as a potent voltage-gated potassium channel (Kv) inhibitor, it induces severe muscle necrosis by a non-enzymatic mechanism and exhibits antimicrobial activities (By similarity). It also elicits a short-lasting hyperextension of the hind limb (Ref.1). It does not cause observable tissue damage (whereas the whole venom causes severe myonecrosis accompanied by edema and hemorrhage) (Ref.1). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9PWF3, ECO:0000269|Ref.1}.
