Neurotoxin
FUNCTION: Probable neurotoxin (Probable). Strongly inhibits voltage-gated potassium channels (Kv1.1/KCNA1, Kv1.2/KCNA2, Kv1.3/KCNA3, and Kv1.6/KCNA6) and mildly inhibits sodium channels (Nav1.2/SCN2A, Nav1.4/SCN4A, Nav1.5/SCN5A, Nav1.6/SCN8A, and BgNav). Induces activation of protein kinase A type II (PKA-II) and MAP kinase Erk1/2 in primary nociceptive and non-nociceptive sensory neurons. Does not show cytotoxic activity. Does not have an impact on Ca2+, cAMP, and NO signaling in the cell types analyzed. Does not interfere with the adhesion of leukocytes to endothelial cells (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P0DRI9, ECO:0000305|PubMed:24132120}.
