Activity
Activity
Neurotoxin
FUNCTION: Toxin that potently modulates mammalian voltage-gated sodium (Nav) channels, reducing the voltage threshold for activation and inhibiting channel inactivation. Shows activity on hNav1.6/SCN8A (EC(50)=176 nM), mNav1.7/SCN9A (EC(50)=102 nM) and hNav1.7 (EC(50)=154 nM). In vivo, causes spontaneous, gradual and long-lasting nocifensive behaviors by intraplantar injection in mice, as well as pronounced swelling of the injected paw. Does not have effect on insects (blowflies). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:38110035}.
