It inhibited HIV-1 (IC50 1.7 uM), HIV-2 (IC50 1.9 uM), HSV-1 (IC50 0.6 uM), HSV-2 (IC50 0.3 uM). labyrinthopeptins A1, the prototype congeners of carbacyclic lanthipeptides, inhibits the proliferation of diverse enveloped viruses, including dengue virus DENV-2 (IC50 0.55 uM), Zika virus (ZIKV, IC50 0.51-0.99 uM), West Nile virus (WNV IC50 0.2 uM), hepatitis C virus (HCV IC50 1.1 uM), chikungunya virus (CHIKV, IC50 2.2 uM), Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, cytomegalovirus, and herpes simplex virus, in the low micromolar to nanomolar range ( Hans Prochnow et al., 2020 ).
