Neurotoxin
FUNCTION: Alpha-conotoxins bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) and inhibit them. This toxin inhibits rodent (alpha-1-beta-1-delta-epsilon (CHRNA1-CHRNB1-CHRND-CHRNE)> alpha-1-beta-1-delta-gamma (CHRNA1-CHRNB1-CHRNG-CHRND)) and human (alpha-3-beta-2/CHRNA3-CHRNB2) nAChRs heterologously expressed in Xenopus oocytes, but has minimal effect on human alpha-7/CHRNA7 nAChRs. Has no effect on the frequency of responses from the giant fiber (GF)-dorsal longitudinal and GF-tergo trochanteral muscle pathways in the D.melanogaster GF circuit (PubMed:28917942). Has possibly a distinct nAChR binding mode from other alpha-conotoxins, due to a different three residue motif (lacks the Ser-Xaa-Pro motif) (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q2I2R8, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28917942}.
