Neurotoxin
FUNCTION: Insecticidal neurotoxin that reversibly inhibits the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-subtype of ionotropic glutamate receptor (GRIN) and inhibits inactivation of insect sodium channels (Nav) (By similarity). Inhibits glutamate uptake in rat brain synaptosomes (PubMed:14757211). In vivo, induces immediate excitatory effects when injected intrathoracically in houseflies and cockroaches (PubMed:14757211). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P59367, ECO:0000269|PubMed:14757211}.
