FUNCTION: Potent inhibitor of insect (bee brain), but not mammalian (rat trigeminal neurons), voltage-gated calcium channels (Cav). In vivo, injection into lone star ticks (Amblyomma americanum) induces curling of all eight legs into closed loops, followed by death. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16330063}.
