Antioxidative activity
The peptide P2 exhibited antioxidative activity in the thiobarbituric acid and was 61% higher than for α-tocopherol (data not shown). Lipid peroxidation in hepatocytes cultured overnight with the antioxidant peptide P2 was significantly lower than in hepatocytes cultured without P2 (2.6 ± 0.1 vs. 1.9 ± 0.1 μM malondialdehyde, mean ± standard error of the mean, P < 0.05).
